Stay connected: Keep in touch with friends and family, and explain what you are experiencing and how they can help

Eat a healthy diet: Aim for a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, and avoid high-sugar, high-fat, processed foods and alcohol

Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and avoid being overly critical

Try mindfulness: Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is recommended for managing depression

Challenge negative thoughts: Replace negative thoughts with positive ones and focus on the present moment

Seek professional help: If you're still feeling down or depressed after a couple of weeks, consider seeking professional help

Stay in a routine: Try to maintain a regular routine, including cooking and eating regular meals

Be more active: Exercise regularly, even if it's just a 20-minute walk each day

Get enough sleep: Try to maintain a regular sleep schedule and get enough sleep each night

Remember that depression is treatable, and it may take some time to find the strategies that work best for you. If you are experiencing severe depressive symptoms, please seek professional help.
